Climate-sensitive Water Resources Management in Central Asia

Climate-sensitive Water Resources Management in Central Asia

Welcome to the information page of the Programme “Climate-Sensitive Water Resources Management in Central Asia”.

Our mission is to strengthen regional cooperation in water resources management in Central Asia using an integrated approach that takes into account the impact of climate change.

The project was initiated within the framework of the Green Central Asia initiative of the German Foreign Office, funded by the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ) and co-financed by the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation (SDC).

We work closely with national and regional organisations responsible for water management. These include the International Fund for Saving the Aral Sea (IFAS) and its subsidiaries: Basin Water Management Organisations “Amu Darya” and “Syr Darya”. At the national level, these are the ministries responsible for water, climate, environment and energy; river basin organisations, regional and local authorities, as well as civil society organisations, in particular – water user associations, agricultural associations, business representatives.
