Green Central Asia assisted the Executive Committee of the Fund for Saving the Aral Sea (EC IFAS) in developing of a digitized water economy map of the Syrdarya and Amudarya Basins in GIS format and developed an interactive map of the Aral Sea Basin.
Printed maps of modern design were also provided and installed in the EC-IFAS office in Dushanbe. The interactive map can be found on the EC-IFAS web page: www.ecifas-tj.org
For information: On 29 January 2021, a Memorandum of Understanding between the Regional Programme ‘Green Central Asia’ and the Executive Committee of the International Fund for Saving the Aral Sea (EC IFAS) was signed in Dushanbe.
The document indicates several measures and activities on providing mutual support in strengthening water-energy, environmental and climate cooperation in Central Asia. The focus is on priorities such as climate change, environment protection, combating the negative consequences of the Aral Sea crisis, water resources, renewable energy and energy efficiency, protection of glaciers, biodiversity, afforestation, combating desertification, land use and sustainable agriculture.
