On 15 October 2026, the international online conference Silk Road of Knowledge 2026 was held under the theme ‘From Dialogue to Action: Partnerships and Investments for Climate Resilience in Central Asia.’ The event was organised by the German-Kazakh University within the framework of the Green Central Asia initiative.
Since 2020, the conference has served as a regional platform for knowledge exchange and cooperation among policymakers, researchers, international organisations, development partners and civil society representatives. Previous editions have addressed water resources management, climate change adaptation, disaster risk reduction and sustainable development.
This year, the conference focused on translating scientific knowledge and regional commitments into concrete joint action. Participants explored how Central Asian countries can strengthen regional cooperation, mobilise climate finance and develop long-term partnerships to address shared climate and water challenges.
The programme featured thematic sessions on strengthening regional cooperation mechanisms for climate and water security, mobilising investment for joint climate initiatives, building multi-stakeholder partnerships and scaling up promising solutions across the region.
Particular attention was given to water diplomacy, climate resilience of water infrastructure in the Syr Darya River Basin, the application of digital technologies in hydrology and strategic management of transboundary water resources.
The conference continued the regional dialogue on bringing together scientific expertise, political commitment, financial resources and practical experience to strengthen climate resilience in Central Asia. These priorities are also aligned with the objectives of the second phase of the Green Central Asia initiative, which seeks to reduce climate risks through transboundary cooperation and enhanced regional resilience.
