On 24 August 2026, the final training session in a series of capacity-building activities for women members of the Kafirnigan River Basin Women’s Forum was held in Dushanbe.
The final training focused on ‘Water Resources Management: Modern Approaches, Women’s Participation and Basin Cooperation’. The participants discussed key issues related to effective and sustainable water resources management, the importance of cross-sectoral cooperation, as well as the role of women in decision-making processes and the development of basin cooperation.
Particular attention was given to practical aspects of women’s participation in water resources management, including planning, coordination, engagement with stakeholders, and promoting gender-responsive approaches in the water sector.
The final training also provided an opportunity to review the results of the work carried out and identify further priorities for the Women’s Forum. In particular, participants reviewed the Kafirnigan River Basin Women’s Forum Action Plan for 2026–2027, which includes activities implemented from January to August 2026, as well as key activities and initiatives planned for 2027.
The joint discussion of the Action Plan enabled participants to assess the results achieved, identify further areas of work, and agree on priority initiatives aimed at strengthening women’s role in water resources management and cooperation in the Kafirnigan River Basin.
The completion of the training series marked an important step towards strengthening the professional capacities of the Women’s Forum members and developing a sustainable platform for women’s participation in water resources management, basin cooperation, and decision-making processes.
