New Educational Resource for Training Water Sector Specialists in Tajikistan

On 17 September, the Irrigation and Land Reclamation Faculty of the Tajik Agrarian University hosted the presentation of the textbook ‘Reclamation of Saline Lands and Drainage’, prepared by Professors A. Akramov and N. Nurzoda.

The publication is particularly significant as a textbook of this kind has been published in the Tajik language for the first time. It is intended to contribute to the training of highly qualified specialists in the effective and sustainable management of water and land resources.

The publication of the textbook represents another practical outcome of cooperation aimed at strengthening the capacity of educational institutions and supporting the training of specialists for Tajikistan’s water sector.

During the event, Mr Viktor Wetzel, Country Director of GIZ in Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan, highlighted the importance and long-term nature of cooperation with the Tajik Agrarian University, aimed at strengthening professional capacities and preparing a new generation of water sector specialists in the country.

The printing and reproduction of the textbook were supported within the framework of the project ‘Climate-Sensitive Water Resources Management in Central Asia’, implemented by GIZ in cooperation with the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation (SDC) on behalf of the governments of Germany and Switzerland.
