Regional Working Group Advances Implementation of the Climate Adaptation Strategy

On 27–28 November, a meeting of the Regional Working Group on the implementation of the Regional Climate Change Adaptation Strategy was held in Dushanbe. Organized with the support of the Green Central Asia programme, the event focused on key aspects of advancing the strategy. Participants reviewed the 2024–2025 progress achieved across the main strategic directions and discussed the matrix of the draft Implementation Plan.

Special attention was devoted to reviewing proposals from the countries of the region aimed at improving the functioning of the Secretariat. Participants conducted an in-depth analysis of potential financing mechanisms and instruments that could ensure the effective implementation of the strategy’s objectives. The discussions helped identify a number of approaches to further strengthen coordination and enhance the overall effectiveness of regional efforts.

The meeting brought together officially nominated members of the Regional Working Group from all Central Asian countries. Given the broad and cross-sectoral nature of the agenda, representatives of international organizations, development partners, and regional institutions also participated. All stakeholders reaffirmed their commitment to supporting the implementation of the strategy and to further strengthening regional cooperation in the field of climate change adaptation.
