On 11 November, the Embassy of Kazakhstan in Berlin hosted the round table “Water Strategic Partnership between Kazakhstan and Germany: A New Level.” The event brought together government representatives, water utilities, technology companies, and research institutions from both countries.
Participants discussed German best practices in water utility management, energy efficiency, and smart metering, as well as new opportunities for technology exchange and digital solutions for urban water resilience.
The meeting featured speakers from the Kazakh Ministry of Water Resources, GIZ, PIK, UFU, TUM, German Water Partnership, Harzwasserwerke, Berliner Wasserbetriebe and others.
The event concluded with a signing ceremony of new cooperation agreements, and an informal networking session.
There was great involvement from German institutions such as GIZ, UfU, GFZ and several ministries, which made the discussions very practical.
As part of the event, PIK – Potsdam Institute for Climate Impact Research and the Information-Analytical Center for Water Resources (IACWR) under the Ministry of Water Resources and Irrigation of the Republic of Kazakhstan signed a Memorandum of Understanding – an important step to intensify our collaboration on climate change, hydrological modelling and forecasting for Central Asia.
