In order to raise environmental awareness among residents and encourage young people to participate in nature conservation projects, a large-scale environmental campaign was held on 16 November in the Bobojon Gafurov district of Sughd province, involving the planting of 200 coniferous trees. The event was organized within the framework of the regional project “Climate-Sensitive Water Resources Management in Central Asia,” implemented by GIZ, and was dedicated to the celebration of the Syrdarya and Amudarya River Days, highlighting the importance of preserving water resources and strengthening the resilience of the region’s ecosystems in the face of climate change.
The campaign took place with the active participation of the Head of the Environmental Protection Department of Sughd Province, representatives of local institutions, and volunteers. The planting of coniferous trees not only contributes to improved air and soil quality but also creates a long-term investment in restoring the region’s green areas—an important step toward an environmentally sustainable future.
