On 29 September, a Memorandum of Understanding was signed between ‘Kazhydromet’ and the Regional Programme ‘Climate-sensitive Water Resources Management in Central Asia’, implemented by GIZ, as part of a pilot project on assessing water quality in transboundary and remote water bodies of the Zhambyl region.
The document provides for the transfer of a mobile laboratory designed to conduct on-site operational water quality assessments. Equipped with modern instruments for analyzing key water quality indicators, the laboratory will enable Kazhydromet specialists to carry out regular monitoring without transporting samples to stationary laboratories. This will significantly improve the efficiency and accuracy of water resource assessments in the region.
The handover of the laboratory marks an important step toward strengthening the national water monitoring system and enhancing the resilience of the water sector to the impacts of climate change.
