Ahead of Amu Darya River Day, a unique series of creative workshops took place in Ashgabat as part of the regional project “Climate-sensitive Water Resources Management in Central Asia”, implemented by GIZ.
These vibrant and inspiring events served as a reminder that water is not only a vital resource but also an inexhaustible source of inspiration that unites people across generations.
Organized in cooperation with the State Committee for Water Management of Turkmenistan, the initiative aimed not just to raise awareness about water resource issues, but to awaken love and respect for nature through creativity.
The older generation painted eco-bags, turning them into colorful canvases depicting the beauty of water and its significance for Central Asia.
Teenagers created miniature water landscapes and ecosystems on ceramic plates, portraying water as a symbol of purity and freshness.
People with disabilities participated in clay modeling sessions, crafting thematic items that symbolized careful and respectful water use.
The youngest participants discovered for the first time that water is not only important for fish in the river but for all living things.
These workshops were more than just creative sessions — they became a true bridge between generations, fostering environmental awareness and a culture of responsible water stewardship.
This series of events served as a prelude to the main celebration of Amu Darya River Day, which aims to unite people in the effort to preserve one of the region’s most important water sources.
