Invitation to the first forum of the CCFLA Central Asia Hub on scaling up and financing projects for zero-carbon buildings in Central Asia in Tashkent

On 18-19 February, the first forum of the CCFLA (Climate Cities Finance Leadership Alliance) Central Asia Local Hub will be held in Tashkent. The main objective of the event is to discuss the programme of decarbonisation of urban construction in Central Asia at regional and national levels, as well as to promote the preparation of new low-carbon infrastructure projects in the region.

The event will be attended by representatives of the governments, project preparation facilities, as well as international organisations and financial institutions that have played a crucial role in the success of the Hub over the past two years.

It is expected that the forum will include thematic sessions with participants from the European Union and Central Asia where key milestones and lessons learnt from the implementation of CCAFLA over the last two years will be analysed. A roadmap for further advancing the decarbonisation agenda will also be developed and opportunities for cooperation and investment attraction for new projects in the sector of residential energy efficiency in Central Asia will be discussed.

The organiser of the forum and initiator of the CCAFLA Central Asia Hub in 2023 is the “Financing Energy for Low-Carbon Investments – Cities Advisory Facility Eastern Partnership & Central Asia” (FELICITY II) programme – an initiative of the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH (German Society for International Cooperation) and the European Investment Bank (EIB) to support low-carbon infrastructure projects in cities that make a significant contribution to sustainable development and climate mitigation.
