A meeting was held at the KAZENERGY Association between the General Director of the Association Zhandos Nurmaganbetov and the head of the project “Renewable Energy Sources in Central Asia” of the German development agency GIZ Sven Ernedal.
During the meeting, a wide range of issues related to the development of the energy sector in Kazakhstan were discussed, including the current situation in the energy sector, as well as scientific and technical cooperation aimed at increasing the share of renewable energy sources (RES) and achieving carbon neutrality.
Zhandos Nurmaganbetov emphasized that Kazakhstan is actively working on the transition to a low-carbon economy and the introduction of RES, while much attention is paid to close cooperation with international partners, including GIZ. Sven Ernedal noted the importance of combining efforts to implement projects aimed at the sustainable development of the Central Asian region, and expressed his readiness to facilitate this process.
The parties agreed to work out the creation of a roadmap for joint actions that will help solve Kazakhstan’s problems in the field of “green” energy and energy efficiency.
Particular attention was paid to cooperation issues within the Central Asian region, where the energy systems of the countries are closely interconnected. Possible ways of cooperation between KAZENERGY and GIZ with the participation of other countries of the region were discussed.
It should be noted that Germany is one of the world leaders in the use of renewable energy sources, and in 2024, the share of “green” sources in the total volume of energy produced in this country exceeded 60%.
The KAZENERGY Association will continue active cooperation with GIZ and other international partners to implement projects in the field of sustainable energy development of Kazakhstan and Central Asia.
