On September 9, 2024, the Turkmen State Energy Institute in Mary hosted the National Youth Conference on Climate Change (LCOY 2024). The event was organized by the Government of Turkmenistan with the support of the GIZ Action “EU for a green Turkmenistan: Policy Dialogue and Climate Action 2024-2028,” funded by the European Union and the German Federal Foreign Office.
The conference, held in anticipation of the upcoming COY19 Youth Conference in Baku, aimed to educate participants on the latest developments in climate change and their effects on both Turkmenistan and the global community. It also featured educational sessions covering various aspects of climate change. The event sought to actively involve young people in discussions about climate issues, enhance their contribution to Turkmenistan’s national and international climate commitments, and encourage youth-led initiatives and projects that support sustainable development and climate action.
