On September 20, the Ministry of Mining Industry and Geology of the Republic of Uzbekistan hosted a meeting between representatives of the Ministry headed by the First Deputy Minister Mr. Omonullo Nasritdinhodjaev and representatives of GIZ, Mr. J.Fritz, Country Director, GIZ in Uzbekistan and Dr. Caroline Milow, Manager of the Regional Program “Green Central Asia”.
At the meeting, First Deputy Minister Mr. Nasritdinkhodjaev emphasized the importance of cooperation with GIZ, where many successful projects have been jointly implemented. It was noted that implementation of several projects aimed at rational use of water resources, maintenance of the state water cadastre, and development of a unified Central Asian groundwater information system waterbase.uz is ongoing.
At the end of the meeting, a Memorandum of Understanding was signed between the Regional Programs “Green Central Asia, Phase II” and “Climate-sensitive Water Resources Management in Central Asia” implemented by GIZ and the Ministry of Mining Industry and Geology of the Republic of Uzbekistan.
The Memorandum aims to support the establishment and development of the Situation Center of the Hydrogeological Service under the Ministry, organize and conduct joint scientific and practical activities of national, regional and international level, such as forums, seminars, conferences, as well as capacity building of the personnel of the Situation Center.
