Regional co-operation on biodiversity conservation

The “Dialogue on National Strategies and Action Plans for Biodiversity Conservation”, organised by the National Centre for Biological Diversity and Biosafety, was held from 30 July to 1 August 2024 in Dushanbe, Tajikistan, with the support of the Green Central Asia, Phase II programme jointly with the Secretariat of the UN Convention on Biodiversity. The event was attended by representatives of Central Asian government agencies, international organisations and local communities to align Tajikistan’s biodiversity conservation strategies with the Kunming-Montreal Global Framework for Biological Diversity.

Participants discussed the key issues of integrating global protocols on biological diversity into national plans, capacity building, development of a national financing plan for biodiversity protection and establishment of an integrated monitoring system. They also noted the importance of regional cooperation and collaboration of all stakeholders for effective management and conservation of biodiversity.
