After numerous discussions with governmental and non-governmental organisations across five countries in CA, final meeting in the form of the hybrid regional multi-stakeholder dialogue took place on May 30, 2024, in Almaty.
The Collective Leadership Institute (CLI), assigned by the GIZ program has designed a participatory consultation and dialogue process to collect key content for a ‘Feasibility Study for the Continuation of Support for the Regional Climate Change Adaptation Strategy in Central Asia’.
The Strategy seeks to develop a mechanism for cooperation between the Central Asian countries to overcome the negative effects of climate change and to implement adaptation measures.
The main points of the dialogue were the following:
– synthesize results from stakeholder group Consultations and country-specific Dialogues
– prioritize possible contributions from respective stakeholder groups for implementation of the Strategy and the Regional Action Plan
– identify ways to build further collaboration capacity
– learn about and consider possible existing or new bodies or platforms that could support coordination among actors for collective implementation
The regional dialogue will provide an opportunity for the CLI team of independent experts to prepare recommendations with options and best proposals for the implementation of the ‘Regional Climate Change Adaptation Strategy for Central Asia’ and create the necessary conditions for further work to enhance the capacity of the Regional Working Group
