On May 14, 2024, the conference “30 years of cooperation between Turkmenistan and the European Union: working together for a better future” was held in Ashgabat at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan.
At the conference between the “Green Central Asia” program of GIZ and between the Ministry of Energy of Turkmenistan, the State Concern “Turkmengas”, a signing ceremony of a Memorandum of Understanding and Cooperation took place.
The joint project of Turkmenistan and GIZ “EU for a green Turkmenistan: political dialogue and climate action 2024 – 2028”, funded by the European Union, will focus on the implementation of specific measures to adapt to climate change and reduce greenhouse gas emissions. It is also planned to intensify political dialogue over the next four years.
The event was attended by Mr. Joachim Fritz, Country Director of GIZ in Kazakhstan, Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan, Head of the GIZ regional program “Green Central Asia” Dr. Carolina Milov, representatives of the relevant ministries, departments and public organizations of Turkmenistan, the diplomatic corps accredited in Turkmenistan, EU programs and projects.
