A joint German/Swiss Regional Programme “Climate Sensitive Water Resources Management in Central Asia” provided comprehensive support for the sequent 38th meeting of the Balkhash-Alakol Basin Council on June 21, 2024 in Almaty, Kazakhstan. Such important issues as flood conditions in the Balkhash-Alakol water basin as well as development and provision of land plots in water protection zones and strips were discussed at the meeting.
The meeting of the Basin Council was attended by 35 members of the Basin Council consisting of local akims, heads of departments and divisions of the Ministry of Water Resources.
Upon completion of the meeting, it was decided to send the Decision of the 38th meeting of the Balkhash-Alakol Basin Council to the local executive bodies, the specialized environmental prosecutor’s office of the region and balance holders of hydraulic structures to coordinate work on prevention of the above-mentioned problems.
