In the margins of the ‘Central Asian Climate Change Conference’ in Almaty, Kazakhstan on 27 -29 May 2024, the Green Central Asia Programme brought together representatives of Ministries of Foreign Affairs and other relevant line ministries and government agencies of Central Asian countries for a meeting of the Regional Working Group on the implementation of the ‘Regional Climate Change Adaptation Strategy for Central Asia’.
The main objective of this meeting was to present and discuss the vision of the CA countries on the strategy implementation process, coordinate priorities, the work plan and ToR for the creation of the Strategy’s Secretariat.
Considering the wide range of issues covered by the strategy, representatives of regional organizations, such as the International Fund for Saving the Aral Sea and the Interstate Commission for Sustainable Development, as well as representatives of international organizations and financial institutions, who expressed interest in assisting in the implementation of the strategy, also participated in the meeting.
Following discussions, it was agreed to intensify the work on the implementation of the strategy and accelerate intra-state procedures to implement the action plan.
