As per the request from the Committee for Environmental Regulation and Control within the Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources of the Republic of Kazakhstan, received in January 2024, the Green Central Asia Program successfully organized the 1st part of the training on the topic “Ensuring the quality of testing of environmental objects by the requirements of ISO/IEC 17025″ on 18 – 20 March 2024 in Almaty, Kazakhstan.
The participants were the employees from the local state laboratories from different regions of Kazakhstan. The first day of the training was in form of the lectures and discussions, second and third days were practical exercises.
In particular, the participants were given, among others, the following topics:
Determination of the concentration of pollutants by the gravimetric method using the example of determining suspended substances in samples of water bodies
Determination of BOD5 by manometric and titrimetric methods
Determination of the concentration of pollutants by the fluorometric method, in waste and surface water using the Fluorate-02 device
The task of the training was to enhance the theoretical and practical knowledge of laboratory staff regarding water quality standards and sampling as well as the established procedures for the preservation, transportation, storage and registration of samples.
This training was another valuable contribution from the Green Central Asia Program towards building a capacity for local staff and strengthening further cooperation with our national partners.
