Climate and Glaciological Cooperation in Central Asia in Action.
The Second Meeting of the Regional Working Group on Monitoring and Modeling of Glaciers in Central Asia in Hybrid Format was held in Tashkent on December 1. The meeting was attended by members of the regional working group, and the agenda included discussions on strengthening mutual support and establishing climate and glaciological cooperation in Central Asia.
Cooperation includes projects aimed at strengthening institutional, capacity building in joint monitoring of CA glaciers, such as joint expeditions, scientific conferences on glaciers and climate change, conferences, seminars, round tables, and other national and regional events.
The meeting agreed on a program and methodology for the preparation of a joint scientific expedition to the Tuyuksu glacier in Kazakhstan in August 2023.
The participants preliminarily agreed to consider and sign a memorandum on cooperation between the glaciological centers of the countries; the draft memorandum will be sent to all Central Asian countries for additions and comments.
