On May 12, 2022, Green Central Asia gathered the inter-governmental working group for the second meeting to discuss proceedings on the Regional Climate Change Adaptation Document.
In this workshop the representatives of the Ministries of Foreign Affairs, relevant sector ministries and state committees, as well as international, regional, and national experts discussed type, content, and structure of the regional adaptation document.
Seminar participants proposed a “block/unit” approach instead of a sectoral approach, and decided on the main topics:
– Increasing climate finance through regional approach, mobilizing resources from existing programs (Green Climate Fund/GEF)
– Water and energy aspects of regional cooperation
– Capacity building of state bodies on climate change issues
– Joint scientific research (e.g., reducing degradation risks, modeling changes in the area of natural reserves, etc.)
Based on the collected analytical information and proposals presented in the reports of national experts, it was agreed to name the document “Central Asian Regional Climate Change Adaptation Strategy”
