On April, 5 the ‘Green Central Asia’ Programme together with the Ministry of Water Resources of Uzbekistan celebrated the launch of a new Public Private Partnership (PPP) Project “Sustainable and resource-efficient irrigation in agriculture of Uzbekistan”. The PPP project is financed by the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ) to encourage private sector participation in an area where business opportunities intersect with development policy initiatives. The project is implemented by the Green Central Asia team of Deutsche Gesellschaft für international Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH.
A trilateral Memorandum of Understanding was exchanged between H.E. A. Mirzaev – Deputy Minister of Water Resources of the Republic of Uzbekistan, Mr. J. Dallendoerfer, Vice-President of the WILO for Eurasia Region and Dr. Caroline Milow, GIZ Programme Manager.
Mr. Sh. Kurbanov- Head of the Information and Analytical Resource Center of the Ministry of Water Resources, Mr. A. Jalairov, General Director WILO Central Asia, Mr. S. Radyshevsky General Director of WILO in Uzbekistan were also present and explained about the PPP project.
The project with a budget of 350.000 Euro includes
Capacity building: professional development and training of specialists in rational and resource-saving irrigation
Creation of solar irrigation demonstration systems for the technical and professional training in Andijan, Bukhara and Kashkadarya Regions of Uzbekistan
