On May 3, 2021, in Tashkent, on the occasion of Press Freedom Day, Green Central Asia took part at the 15th “Oltin Kalam” National Award, with the nomination “For the best material on climate change and its impact on the environment in Uzbekistan”. Of all the works sent to the competition, the program jury selected a promising young journalist, Mr. Karim Zaripov. Karim Zaripov won the participation in a study tour to the Federal Republic of Germany in 2022.
Karim says: “Back in the 7th grade, on the advice of a teacher who saw my abilities, I chose journalism for myself and later entered the University of Journalism. I have repeatedly appeared in the media on the topics of corruption, drinking water and climate change, and these are the problems that have a negative impact on human development and society today”.
Despite his age, Karim Zaripov, a student at the University of Journalism and Mass Communication, has considerable experience in journalism. Still studying, Karim works as correspondent for the newspaper “Darakchi”; he participated in the competition with his works “Dying while standing, or what air do we breathe?”, “XXI century may be the last century for the human race”. With good and simple style Karim managed to convince the jury and take the award from the regional program “Green Central Asia”.
