On July 18, the Second Round Table was held in Ashgabat to finalize the first draft of the Public Outreach Strategy on the benefits of Renewable Energy Sources and Energy Efficiency
The event was organized with the support of the ‘EU for a green Turkmenistan: Policy Dialogue and Climate Action 2024–2028’ project
The Round Table was attended by a diverse group of participants, including representatives from national ministries and agencies of Turkmenistan, alongside international organizations such as the Delegation of the European Union to Turkmenistan, representatives from other EU-funded projects like “Sustainable Energy Linkages in Central Asia (SECCA)” and “Renewable Energy in Central Asia (RECA),” as well as other international development partners such as UNDP, UNICEF, OSCE and others. Young SDG Ambassadors, students and representatives of Civil Society organizations (CSOs) also joined in, highlighting the importance of involving various stakeholders in shaping green energy policy.
The round table focused on an in-depth review of the feedback and suggestions received from governmental bodies, with the aim of refining the draft strategy in line with national priorities and finalizing its content. The adoption of the strategy will ensure its effective implementation, contributing both to environmental protection and to the country’s economic development.
“Energy transition is impossible without the active participation of every member of society. -stated Dr. Caroline Milow, Project Manager. -This Strategy is not just a document; it is a roadmap that will help us effectively convey the importance of renewable energy and energy efficiency to every citizen of Turkmenistan, laying the foundations for a greener and more prosperous future.”
