On 27 May 2025, the official opening ceremony of a newly established training laboratory took place at the Faculty of Hydromelioration of the Tajik Agrarian University named after Shirinsho Shohtemur in Dushanbe.
The opening ceremony was attended by H.E. Mr. Jörg Schugraf, Ambassador of the Federal Republic of Germany to the Republic of Tajikistan; Ms. Sabine Olthof, Country Director of GIZ in Tajikistan; Ms. Salome Steib, Director of the Swiss Cooperation Office (SDC) in Tajikistan; and Mr. Jamshed Shoimzoda, First Deputy Minister of the Ministry of Energy and Water Resources of the Republic of Tajikistan.
The laboratory, equipped with modern technical instruments, will serve as a practical training platform for students in the fields of irrigation, drainage, monitoring, and water resources management. As part of a pilot initiative, the laboratory aims to support hands-on education, enhance professional competencies, and contribute to the development of a new generation of specialists capable of effectively addressing climate-related challenges in the water sector.
The successful implementation of this pilot project was made possible through close collaboration with national authorities and academic institutions, reflecting a strong commitment to sustainable water resources development in the region.
