On 28 February, “Green Central Asia: Phase II” organised another online meeting between the hydro-meteorological services of the Central Asian countries and the representatives of the German scientific community on the topic of the results of the use of the ASB Drought Monitoring Tool. Representatives of Martin Luther University Halle-Wittenberg briefly listed the events organised within the first phase of the Green Central Asia project, described the methodology of the monitoring tool and presented the data collected for 2024. Representatives of the Helmholtz Centre for Geosciences GFZ presented the results of their work on monitoring water resources from space. In particular, they presented the data obtained using radar altimetry sensors, which allow monitoring of even small rivers and reservoirs.
The participants of the online meeting asked questions about the possibilities of weather forecasting based on the received data and agreed on further cooperation, in the framework of which the Central Asian hydrometeorological services agreed to provide field data to improve and validate the data received by the ASB tool.
