Supporting the Kafirnigan River Basin Women’s Forum

In order to build the capacity of the members of the Kafirnigan River Basin Women’s Forum, a training on irrigation and crop irrigation systems was organised and conducted in Dushanbe on 20 February with the support of GIZ’s Green Central Asia II programme.

The main objective of the training was to train women in efficient irrigation methods that contribute to sustainable agriculture under climate change conditions. Such trainings help women to learn how to properly adapt irrigation regimes depending on soil type and crops under climatic conditions.

The Kafirnigan River Basin is a type of region where water resources are limited, so it is very important to properly manage irrigation systems like drip irrigation and other technologies that save water and increase crop yields.
