Study Visit of Uzbekhydrogeology Specialists to Germany

From July 26 to 31, a study tour by a delegation from the Uzbekhydrogeology State Institution took place in Germany. It was organized within the framework of the Regional Program “European Union for a Sustainable Central Asia: Joint Action and Cooperation on Water, Energy and Climate Change,” co-financed by the European Union and implemented by GIZ.

The purpose of the visit was to strengthen institutional and technical capacity in groundwater monitoring, digitalization of hydrogeological data, and climate-resilient water resource management.

During the tour, the participants visited AG KISTERS (Aachen), the German Federal Institute for Geosciences and Natural Resources (BGR, Berlin), and the Berliner Wasserbetriebe. The specialists learned about modern approaches to groundwater monitoring, digital hydrogeological data management systems, technologies for collecting and analyzing data from monitoring wells, and practices for ensuring reliable drinking water supply.

The knowledge and experience gained will be used to further improve the groundwater monitoring system in Uzbekistan and develop digital solutions in the hydrogeological field.

Following the visit, agreements were reached with AG KISTERS and BGR on further cooperation aimed at exchanging experience, technical collaboration, and developing joint initiatives in groundwater monitoring and sustainable management.
