On 16 January the State Energy Institute of Turkmenistan in Mary has successfully completed the second stage of an intensive 72-hour specialised course titled ‘Sustainable Energy Systems: Fundamentals and Applications of Renewable Technologies’. This event serves as a continuation of the educational program, the first part of which took place from September 2 to 5, 2025.
The implementation of this course represents a significant step in strengthening the strategic partnership between the European Union and Turkmenistan regarding the ‘green’ transition. The EU actively supports the country’s efforts to decarbonize its economy and introduce environmentally friendly technologies, facilitating the exchange of experience and the transfer of advanced European innovations for the region’s sustainable future.
The primary goal of this certified course is the comprehensive professional development of Turkmen specialists and academic staff in the field of renewable energy sources (RES). The program focused on:
- Providing participants with practical knowledge and analytical tools for the effective implementation of green energy systems.
- Training in methods for evaluating and implementing technological projects aimed at diversifying Turkmenistan’s energy balance.
- Integrating theoretical foundations with practical experience to train personnel capable of developing sustainable energy infrastructure.
Upon completion of the training, official certificates were awarded to the participants, including SEIT instructors, scientists from the “RES” Scientific and Production Center, and specialists from the Ministry of Energy.
The event was organized under the project ‘European Union (EU) for a green Turkmenistan: Policy Dialogue and Climate Action 2024 -2029’, co-funded by the European Union and the German Federal Foreign Office,
implemented by GIZ. Training was conducted by leading experts from the Anhalt University of Applied Sciences (Germany).
